With over 30 years of experience in outpatient Occupational Therapy, I am a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT-LANA) located in Evanston, IL and specialize in orthopedic hand-to-shoulder rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, and breast cancer survivorship care.
As an expert in the field, I’ve had the privilege of co-authoring professional publications on topics such as breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) risk reduction, a prospective surveillance model of care in the community, and clinical practice patterns among lymphedema therapists. I’ve taken time to contribute to the understanding of patient-centered lymphedema care. I’ve also led training workshops at local conferences and provided in-house education for colleagues. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been mentoring and program development.
With my background in holistic care and having advanced training in manual lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, lymphedema management and dry needling, I take a client-centered approach to care. I utilize collaborative care to individualize treatment plans that promote healing, restore function, and enhance quality of life.
As a breast cancer survivor myself, I bring a deeply personal understanding of the oncology journey and road to recovery from pain, illness and/or injury. I know what it means to strive for normalcy and comfort during challenging times. I’ve been there. I’m with you and can hold space for your healing.
Through more than a decade of volunteer leadership with the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA), I have also served the lymphedema therapy profession. My work has focused on advancing education, certification standards, and best practices in care. While I am stepping back from a leadership role on the board of directors, I remain committed to the mission as a volunteer committee member. It is vital that our medical community continues to prioritize misunderstood or underserved conditions like lymphedema.
